East Wind Design (EWD) is a Wisconsin based floral design studio rooted in the belief that flowers have a way of making life’s moments feel even more meaningful.

EWD designs are romantic, artful, and little unexpected. I create with movement, texture, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of each stem. Rather than following a formula, every arrangement is thoughtfully designed around the people, place, and feeling behind the occasion.

Hi, I’m Kira

Hi, I’m Kira, the founder and floral designer behind East Wind Design.

For most of my life, I never considered myself a creative person. I earned my degree in public health and imagined my career would be in healthcare. But while planning and curating events for nonprofit organizations, I discovered how much I loved the details, the way a space can transform, and how thoughtful design can completely change an experience.

Looking back, though, flowers were always there.

My grandma, who was a huge part of my life, was constantly creating floral arrangements around her home. Years later, while planning my own wedding, celebrating friends at theirs, and producing large-scale events, I found myself drawn back to flowers.

And if you know me, you’ve probably heard me say, “Well, I could probably do that.”

So eventually, I did. And what started with designing flowers for friends’ weddings became something I couldn’t imagine not doing.

Making Something Meaningful

For a long time, East Wind Design was something I quietly dreamed about building.

Then, after experiencing a profound loss on Valentine’s Day 2026, the way I thought about time, purpose, and the life I wanted to create changed. It reminded me that life is far too short to keep waiting until you feel completely ready.

So I stopped waiting. I invested more deeply in my craft, pursued floral education wherever I could, including in London, and began building East Wind Design into the studio I had imagined for years.

I found something in floral design that I didn’t know I was missing, and now I can’t imagine my life without it.

The East Wind Approach

I don’t believe flowers should simply fill a space. They should belong there.

Every project begins with the bigger picture: the venue, season, color palette, atmosphere, and most importantly, the people being celebrated. From there, I create florals that feel intentional to the space, filled with movement, texture, seasonal blooms, and unexpected details.

But beautiful flowers are only part of the experience. When you trust me with your wedding or event, you can also expect organization, communication, kindness, and care.

Because you’re not simply ordering flowers. You’re trusting me with a small piece of a day that means everything to you, and that is something I’ll never take lightly.

Outside the Studio

When I’m not surrounded by flowers, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband, David, and our Australian Labradoodle, Fergie, in our new (very first!) home.

You’ll also find me traveling somewhere new (hopefully Tanzania next!), planning my next project (currently my garden), or listening to a playlist that makes absolutely no sense genre-wise (aka Harry Styles, Beyonce, Bad Bunny, Charley Crockett, Miley Cyrus, Tyler the Creator, Leon Bridges, Dolly Parton… the list goes on but I suppose I should be talking about flowers, not my choice in music…)

I’m endlessly inspired by nature, travel, fashion, and art. And one thing about me is that when I get inspired and an idea comes my way, I stop at nothing to make it a reality (hence EWD).

More Than Flowers

When you work with East Wind Design, you're not simply ordering arrangements. You're trusting me with a small piece of a day that is meaningful to you.

That is something I will never take lightly.

Whether I'm designing a bouquet you'll carry down the aisle, transforming a room for hundreds of guests, teaching a table full of friends how to arrange flowers, my hope is always the same: that the flowers make the moment feel even more special.
